Cabochons

A cabochon is a gemstone that has been shaped and polished into a smooth, rounded, and usually domed form without facets. The bottom is typically flat. This cut is often used for opaque or translucent stones like opal, turquoise, or moonstone to highlight their color, pattern, or optical effects.
