But it really boils down to self-love. We have been taught that it is selfish or egotistical to love ourselves, to put ourselves first. But it is the opposite. It allows us to take better care of ourselves, of others and to be more joyful in all our interactions. It allows us to set healthy boundaries. It makes resolutions a thing of the past because we don’t have to wait to change. But until we are all on that page, let’s look at some tools that can help us keep our resolutions to do good things.
Sometimes focus and concentration can be a component of kicking a habit, or bringing in a better, new one. Rosemary and basil are both excellent for the brain. Mints can help keep us alert, and again, the citrus oils are very beneficial here.
Meditation and/or grounding oils might also help with focus/concentration: frankincense, elemi, cedarwood Atlas or patchouli can be used singly, or any of the oils can be used in combination. Just remember, scent is very personal, so it make take a few attempts to come up with your perfect blend.
Note: I f you have any health conditions, please consult with your health professional before using essential oils.©2018 Heather Garrod is a Certified Aromatherapist and owner of Planet Botanix at 301 Bank St near Somerset.
