Harness Plant Energy for Health

It has been said that essential oils are the life blood of a plant. The oils give the plant the characteristics which protect it and nurture it. We use these properties to help protect us from disease in the use of antibacterial essential oils, for example. And as sedatives or energizers; for focus or in meditation; for skin repair and sore muscles. Since energy cannot be created or destroyed, it follows that we can use the energies of essential oils to assist us in many ways. Many holistic modalities add essential oils to heighten the potency of the healing. Those corresponding to the seven major energy centres in the body, the chakras, respond well to essential oils and Reiki, for example. Reiki is a form of energy healing, chanelling universal energy through the practitioner in a very healing way for the participant. Essential oils can also be used to enhance the practice of meditation by heightening the sense of calm and wellbeing. Many yoga studios use eucalyptus essential oil, amongst others, for its clearing, calming properties. Sage can sometimes be used for the same reasons. Let’s talk for a moment about energy as it is used in common parlance. “I have no energy”. How can essential oils help with this statement? Well, if the low energy is caused by a lack of sleep, there are oils that help insomnia, like vetiver, ylang ylang, lavender and marjoram. Maybe the issue is stress. Frankincense and sandalwood can help. What if the lack of energy results in lack of focus? Rosemary or basil can help with memory and concentration. Bergamot is uplifting. Other citrus oils can help too. Think of how you feel when peeling open a grapefruit. The oils in the skin are released, releasing into the atmosphere fresh, invigorating energy!

They can all be used undiluted in the air or diluted (5 drops essential oil to 15mL carrier oil such as  fractionated coconut). Make sure when you are creating your blends that only one drop at a time comes out of the bottle or you may 'overscent' with a particular aroma.

Here are some blends to help you with energy!
